The Association of Jesus in the Blessed sacrament was formally founded in Enugu Diocese at sacred Heart Parish Uwani , Enugu on 28th day of July , 1996 by his Lordship, Rt, Rev. Dr. M .U.Eneja, then Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese.

In April, 1989, one Mr .Anthony Ifeanyichukwu Ekwunife, an ardent devotee of the Blessed sacrament, was inspired to call one Mr. Basil Ojekwe to join him in his usual Wednesday Adoration through manifestations of favors received by Adorers of the Blessed Sacrament.

Mr. Ojekwe in 1989 met the then parish priest of sacred heart parish Uwani, Rev. Fr. Micheal Aluma who advised them to continue with the adoration while the church keeps close watch. He then started exposition in 1995. The Parish Priest Rev . Fr. Aluma contacted the Bishop of Enugu Diocese and they were given another one year for necessary clearance with the church authorities in Rome to be obtained. This approval was obtained which lead to the Association's inauguration in 1996.

During the inauguration, the Bishop of Enugu Diocese handed the Association a Certificate dated 25th, July, 1996 in which he prayed " May the Faith in, Knowledge and love of the Blessed Sacrament continue to flourish'' He also asked the Devotion. Since then the Association has been spreading like wild fire within the Diocese and Arch-Dioceses and beyond the boundaries of Nigeria into America and South Africa.
